As a professional artist and book designer, neither I – nor any other artist I’ve ever met – got even a shred of in-school training in marketing or selling.
We were even subconsciously trained to think of marketing and selling as sleazy and intrusive and out of integrity.
Well, heck! How were we supposed to make a living, without letting people know we had art for sale, or selling it for dollars! (Gasp!)
Oh yes – I forgot! We were expected to produce beautiful things, and then have it magically snapped up by eager customers who showed up out of the blue. Right!
Hah! Dream on! No one told us how to find customers, what to say to them, or how to connect them with the products and services you offer that they already want and need!

And more importantly, the bulk of those trainings and workshops don’t show you how to neutralize your fears, anxieties, worries, or how to build your confidence.
